Creating this piece, which turned into a series, has been a great source of solace for me over the years of dealing with my mother's continuing journey with Alzheimer's disease. The foundation for the series began with this poem for my mom:

tiny little vessel

in a great and swirling sea

tethered to reality

waiting just to be

drifting off to

wonderland

not exactly

free

holding on

forever

to a piece

of you & me
