Creating art is a mental distraction from the constant worrying about ones' medical condition. When I create, my mind stops focusing on how my joints feel or what will happen if I become immune to my medication...again. This work focuses on using the part of my body most damaged by my illnesses to create beauty. The work compliments my mindset around illness and disability. How can I take something I despise and turn it into something I love? Using a variety of light sources, a self-timer and a tripod, I work to capture images that transform deformations, awkward bumps and lumps, into aesthetic wonders full of light, shadow, color, and mystique.
