When I was growing up, everyone was reading Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, while I was painting and drawing. I had a difficult time reading due to my dyslexia, so art was my escape from feeling less than my peers. Today, I am an Art Teacher for adults with Developmental Disabilities where I have the opportunity to learn and grow with my students. They find the same comfort and expression in art as I do, and that's why I am grateful to be working with them every day.
