Diana: Artist Statement
The art represents a timeline of my life, and influences in my life. The line is curved because I am not a linear person. My mind is like snow blowing on a windy, black road. Blowing and swirling around.
The lines are people I have known, people who have influenced me, and people I have lost to opioids, including my cousin’s son, Eric. I blurred the lines because the loss of Eric radiated out to all of us –his friends and family.
The two top marks at the very top represent my parents: Purple is my mom. My dad is ugly brown. He was a very not nice person.
The lighter colors are more of me being younger…when I had more hope. Then the paint gets darker, like my hope got tangled up.
