Lys: Artist Statement
Brandy and I were so close. We were always out of control, living fully. Spontaneously fun. One minute going home, one minute sitting in the park. I put the flowers on my piece because I wanted her to know “Haha, I got you flowers.” She was transgender and back then she was the boyish type and you couldn’t get her flowers. Now I can. I love her and I miss her and I want her to know that.
The art I made is spontaneous and fun. Just the way we were together.
